Lisa, amazingly, the Scarlet Empress received a starred review from Booklist (the ALA publication) in part for its "political commentary." So it was nice to have validation that there was some meat to the plot. I don't know if I'd call Kyber a villian per se but in Banzai he was most certainly annoying, imprisoning the hero, coming on the the heroine, flashing his enormous ego... What's a dictator to do when the chick doesn't like you? :)

Thanks for the kudos, Susan. (Or should I say G'Day?) I've read a handful of your books (enjoyed them all), but I missed out on The Scarlet Empress. I'll have to rectify that. I love it when an author digs deep and turns a villain into a hero.

Hi from Sydney! Thanks Lisa for the great Danger Gal write-up for Banzai! It was well done and I'm so pleased you enjoyed this book. Thanks for letting me know about your blog! I need to link to yours from mine. And scifichick, I snagged that house-design thing from Lisa and have it up on my blog now! lol And thank you for your nice words!

As for wealthy world leaders, in this series, Cam, the other female fighter pilot whose story is told in The Scarlet Empress brings him to his knees...then gets her man. Kyber wouldn't have been happy with Banzai. She never wanted to dig beneath the surface. Cam did. He actually became one of my fav heroes as I peeled away the layers of the onion in the last book.

As happily-ever-after endings go, Cam definitely gets the better house. (compared to Banzai)
