One of my favorite parts of the book is when Cordelia realizes she and Aral have to do something about their eyes. I will always remember that scene because despite its subtlety, the sexual and emotional tension is so powerful. Cordelia has such a strength of character. I also was really intrigued by her relationship with Bothar (and Aral's insight about it). (being vague here deliberately to avoid spoilers). It's also amazing that Bujold "set the standard" as you put it on balancing Romance and SF when that kind of genre blending was even more niche than it is now. I'm so thrilled she wrote it and that the publisher had the vision to take a chance on it. Bet they aren't sorry now! Great profile, as usual!
